Here's a comic I remember buying!

love the fantasy of a dog banana which Nigel Parkinson used for Banana Bunch in the Dandy a few years ago..

Also lovely Nutty logo and colours red yellow..

 Heres the first encounter with the Nerks..But here pink! I like Bananaman in this period where it didn't have to worry about the tv cartoon program and could be very zany and creative..

75 years of The Dandy- Whacko!

The Dandy 13th March 1971

This strip is so full of detail and period pieces..

 The beauty of this strip is its showing the past so it can get away with corporal punishment, a kid smoking a pipe and them running wild in extreme ways..

I like how each kid has a different costume and they look individual its all very worked out.

Drawing crowd scenes is tricky to do But Ron is brilliant at it..

Ron also drew the brilliant crowded Robin Hood's Schooldays strip later..

75 years of The Dandy -Peter's pocket Grandpa Ron Spencer 1975.

Just love how he drew small and what a fine pen nib he used! 

He also used this technique in The Beano's for The Nibblers..,,very impressive.

Jack Edward Oliver also drew very small and his comic pages are drawn actual size.

Baby-face mum gives Bully Beef's mum a rival in the looks department..:)



These cousins of Baby-face can get very strange..funny strange..:)
Heres Ron's version of the Three Bears...its fun that Little Plum, Three bears and Baby-face are in the same location!! Baby-face first appeared ina Little Plum page before getting his own page..I remember a Beano comic library showing all three characters together..






Parrot-face is a fun character..





after all those different cousins storylines it changed when Baby-face came back to The Beano..which still worked well..

Its nice how they showed how Baby-face ended up in Britain and showing the Marshal waving him off..the storylines were more about toys and sweets pinching..and the local police after him..sometimes his cousins came to visit and Mummy-face seemed to have moved to Britian as well!!

What I like about Baby-face is his unique appearance it is such a unusual face the nostrils the wide mouth...also love the motorised pram...and the classic Yuk! Yuk! laugh..what a great character..
These characters and actions are like a Warner Brothers cartoon..
